We know a great deal about Egyptian clothing, jewelry, hairstyles, and makeup from ancient paintings, sculpture, and writing. As you learn about the dress of Ancient Egyptians, keep these questions in mind:

• Why were makeup, cosmetics, and hairstyles so important to the Egyptians?
• Why was jewelry so important in Ancient Egypt?

Do you think that Egyptian hairstyles will come back into fashion?  I'm superlovin' the idea for this Egyptian barbershop but I can't get it to work on my computer!  Can you?

What's up with men, women, and children wearing extreme makeup anyway?  Were the Egyptians just incredibly vain or did they have other reasons for wearing makeup?  Did they buy their makeup at the Mall?  What was the makeup made from?

Why did Egyptians collect and wear jewelry?  What materials did they use for making jewelry?  

Task #1  Think like an historian by analyzing several paintings or sculptures for all of the information about dress and appearance that you can find. 

Task #2  I love the idea for Task 1 in this Webquest!  How WOULD you disguise yourself if you were suddenly zapped back to ancient Egypt in a Sponge Bob T-shirt and running shoes? 

Task #3 Create a full-scale production of the Egyptian Cinderella!  Write the script, research the different classes involved in the story, create the appropriate costumes and perform the play.
